Community Outreach
Join us as we share the Word of LifeCommunity Outreach
At First Baptist, we try our best to help when we hear of a need. Our Truth In Action volunteers build handicap accessible ramps and do other repairs as they can for the Abbeville community, and a bi-annual Day of Caring is held where the deacons and others assist in yard clean-up, spring cleaning, and more for our members and others in the community.
We have a local prison ministry, where we conduct services and Bible studies, hand out Bibles and literature, provide occasional refreshments, and help with the prisoners’ needs as we are able.
During the summer we put on a Vacation Bible school in the evenings, open to the community, where we offer food, music, recreation, worship, Bible study, and missionary stories. During the school year, we partner with South Side Baptist to offer a Good News Club after school hours at Westwood Elementary.
Occasionally we host community block parties—either in our parking lot or at the Livery Stable on the Square—with food and bounce houses to have some fun fellowship and have another opportunity to meet our community kids and invite them to church or special events.
We also support several outside ministries and churches, such as UCMAC, Abbeville Youth Center, sister churches in Columbia, SC, and Utah, Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, an orphanage in Rwanda, and more.
We want to reach our community and our world for Christ.
